Set up an email theme in Xendy

Introduction

In the theme settings, you can find various options for the appearance or content of your emails. Here you can set how buttons look, which font to use, or which colours you frequently use. This saves a lot of time and ensures every email matches your branding.

Open email settings

To open the email settings:

  1. Click ‘Settings‘ in the left menu.
  2. Then choose ‘Email settings‘ followed by ‘Theme‘.

You will now see a visual editor where you can adjust fonts, buttons, colours, and links for your emails.

How email settings work

The theme settings form the foundation for all your email designs. When you create a new email or add a new content block, the style from your theme settings is automatically applied. For example, if you insert a new button, it will use the font, colour, and padding you have set here – you don’t need to style it each time.

Fonts

Click the ‘Fonts‘ tab at the top of the page to set your default text styles. You can configure:

  • Heading font: used for headings (H1, H2, etc.).
  • Body font: used for regular paragraph text.
  • Font size: base size for body text.
  • Email background colour: the general background of the email.
  • Row and column background colour: the default background within individual rows and columns.
  • Text colour: the colour applied to general text.

Colours

Click the ‘Colours‘ tab at the top of the page to set your default colours. You will see these colours everywhere you can choose a colour within Xendy. Configure colours as follows:

  1. Click one of the five coloured blocks at the top.
  2. Select the desired colour using the picker or enter a hex code.
  3. Click ‘Save‘ in the top right to save the colours.

Buttons

Click the ‘Buttons’ tab to define how all buttons in your emails should look by default. You can set:

  • Text size: size of the button text.
  • Border radius: determines how rounded the button corners are.
  • Background colour: fill colour of the button.
  • Text colour: colour of the button text.
  • Padding: space inside the button, affecting its size.

Every new button you add to an email will automatically follow these settings.

In addition to the ‘Primary button‘, you can also configure the ‘Product button‘. These are the buttons that appear in product blocks in your emails.

Link settings

Under ‘Link settings‘ you can define how links should look by default in your emails. You can set:

  • Bold links: whether links should be bold.
  • Underlined links: whether links should be underlined.
  • Link colour: the text colour that links should have.

View preview and save

You can see a live preview of your email settings directly below the tabs. This shows how your selected styles will appear in actual emails.

When you are satisfied with your settings, click ‘Save‘ in the top right corner to save your changes.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, the email settings are the default. Many settings can then be adjusted per email. For example, the background colour, column colours, and button design.

Xendy does not support uploading custom fonts. This is because such fonts are not supported by email clients such as Outlook, Gmail, and Hotmail. We offer a selection of Google Fonts. These are also not always supported; in those cases, we fall back to Arial or Helvetica.
